[Sunderland F.A. Cup Football] 1937 “In Memory of Proud Preston” Humorous Memorial Folding Card
A folding card in the style of a black-bordered memorial card, though poking fun at the 3-1 loss by Preston North End to Sunderland in the 1937 “Coronation” F.A. Cup Final at Wembley. Printed by Kerrigan & Sons in Sunderland, it notes that Preston were “humbled in the dust Fighting for the English Cup at Wembley”, a little account joyfully naming all of the Sunderland team as well as the teams they had beaten on their way to their first F.A, Cup Final win. Printed on cheap thin yellowish-cream card as these hastily produced souvenirs often were.
Approx. 200x120mm. (Opened-out), central vertical fold, occasional spots and light creasing/wrinkling present, though overall in good condition. Rare.
