Led Zeppelin was the first real heavy metal band of the rock. One could also say that Led Zeppelin for the 1960s were what the Beatles were for the 1970s: a band that was so successful and innovative that she finally created the prism through which her entire era was seen.

Zeppelin heralded the era of the album rock and the arenarock. Based on the electric blues of the post-war period, early rock & roll and psychedelia, Zeppelin created a titanical roar in their earliest days, but even then there was a strong undercovering of the folk rock, and the quartet soon threaded world music, funk, country and synthesizer and created an adventurous work that influenced the history of rock music.
