The multimedia hip-hop project to commemorate the 1921 massacre in Greenwood in Tulsa, which is known as "Black Wall Street".
The scapegoat for one of the worst racist massacres in the United States was a 19-year-old shoe cleaner named Dick Rowland, who was incorrectly accused of attacking a white girl. Almost 100 years later, the massacre is still heavy on the city, and the scars from 1921 will never completely heal. As through a miracle, these circumstances have produced a hip-hop scene that builds on love, community and the legacy of the ancestors that have paved the way. Now the municipality in Tulsa is preparing to recognize what has happened, let the victims happen to the victims and to look into the future.
Now hip-hop artists have taken on an important role in dealing with this cross-generational trauma and heralded a new era for Tulsa with this groundbreaking project. On the album are Steph Simon, Ayilla and Thomas Who? listen.
