An album with experience
Surprise: U2 are back and will publish their new album »Songs of Experience« at the end of 2017. It is the 14th Studio work by Bono, The Edge and Co.The Irish band thus ties in with its predecessor "Songs of Innocence" from 2014. Both titles are borrowed from the poet collection of the English Poet William Blake.
How the new album sounds, they revealed in advance with the first single release "You're the Best Thing About Me". In addition, they already performed the song "The Little Things that That Give You Away" in the late night show by JIMMY Kimmel. Both tracks show: U2 are multifaceted in 2017 as ever and take on social, political and personal topics as usual.
Actually, U2 largely had the songs for "Songs of Experience" in the box last year. After the Brexit and the election of US President Donald Trump, however, they have revised some songs again in order to respond to the serious political changes.
And to give the whole sound frame to the whole, the band worked with a few top -class producers again: among other things, ONEREPUBLICS Ryan Tedder, Danger Mouse, Jacknife Lee and Steve Lilywhite sat behind the controls.
In addition to the standard CD, the new album is also available as a deluxe CD with four bonus songs. The respective tracklisting can be found below. Vinyl fans get their money's worth with the double LP on cyan blue vinyl. An absolute highlight for all fans is also the Numbered Limited Deluxe Box Set. In addition to blue double LP and CD, this contains other special extras. Of course only as long as the stock lasts.
The name is the program: "Songs of Experience" is musical and an experience in terms of musical and content. An absolute rock highlight at the end of 2017.
The compilation has so far been sold at least 2.7 million times and reached 2x gold and 38x platinum.
