Important Installation Instructions
Aluminium bolts require a gentler touch than standard heavy steel bolts. Please follow these steps for a perfect installation:
Clean the Threads: Ensure your bike frame's threaded holes (rivnuts) are completely free of dirt, grit, paint overspray, or old dried glue before inserting the new bolts.
Hand Thread First: Always start screwing the bolt in by hand for the first few turns to ensure it is perfectly aligned and not cross-threading.
Tighten Gently: Use a properly sized Allen key. If you have a bicycle torque wrench, tighten the bolts to a maximum of 1.5 to 2 Nm. Do not over-tighten; they only need to be snug enough to hold the plastic or carbon cage in place.
Material Warnings & Disclaimer
- Low Torque Only: These are ultra-lightweight aluminium alloy components designed strictly for low-torque applications (bottle cages). They are not heavy-duty steel bolts and will shear if subjected to excessive force or power tools.
- Not for Structural Components: Do not use these bolts on high-load areas of your bicycle such as stems, handlebars, seatposts, or brake components.
- If Resistance is Met, Stop: If the bolt becomes tight or stuck before it is wound all the way down, do not force it. Back the bolt out and check the frame threads for blockages or cross-threading. Forcing an alloy bolt into a blocked steel/carbon thread will snap the head.
