Here is a 1912 photo of students and teacher at a brick, one room schoolhouse.  In the middle of the first row two students are holding a slate board that reads October 1912.  On the back is written Old School Shepherd of the Hills, Renninger Road & Hoffmansville Road, Class of 1912.  This schoolhouse is still standing today located on Hoffmansville Road at Renninger Road in Congo, PA, across from Shepherd of the Hills Church, it is now a private residence.  This photo was made into a real photo postcard, but was not stamped, addressed or postmarked.  Unfortunately, none of the students or the teacher are identified.  Congo, PA is a small town in Douglass Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.  It's next to Sassamansaville, and close by Niantic, Bechtelsville, Bally and Gilbertsville. The photo is nice and clear but has a blue stain at the bottom of the picture.  Also has some bent corners, creases and rough areas around the edges.  Looks like it might have been trimmed at the top and bottom.  Great old photo for the local historian.  Make a fun research project trying to find the names of the students.  If you like old photographs and ephemera, please check out my EBay store and the other old photos and things I have listed.  Many different subjects, time periods and places!  I mail all my old photos in padded envelopes with cardboard to keep them from being bent.  I do combine postage whenever possible. Thank you!
