This lovely bag came to me out of my mother's collection, and recently out of a long storage. It was made for her while on a trip to Costa Rica back in the 1950s.
It is a lovely vintage, hand-tooled purse, with deep floral designs in black leather. It measures as shown and is unique with the wonderful fringe that surrounds the entire bag on the sides. The strap extends as shown, so that it comfortably slides over the shoulder, or can be cinched down and used as a hand carry clutch.
The front is totally tooled in wonderful floral designs, while the back has one wonderful Resplendent Quetzal carved into it, one of Costa Rica's most famous birds, with its wonderful long plumage and tail feathers, and is considered to be the most beautiful bird in the world, they say! It is perched on a series of three carved, stylized initials, which personalized it for my mother when she had it made....BTH!
Condition is collectable vintage, shows some signs of wear, and has a few places where the fringe has broken off, as shown. It does not detract from the piece and really isn't noticeable unless you search for it.
