Here's a crude early hand blown St.Julien Medoc applied shoulder seal emb wine bottle that was dug from an 1850s outhouse privy pit.....although the bottle may not pontiled, it has the deep kickup base and has a sharp sheared lip with crude drippy applied layed on ring collar.... ST.JULIEN MEDOC (boldly emb, along with grapes & leaves, inside a crudely applied shoulder seal)....Hand blown in dip mold......sunken bottom.....crude sheared lip with drippy applied layed on ring collar.....olive green....11 1/2"tall....Excellent condition with only a shallow natural sliver flake on neck from when the blowpipe was snapped from the lip. Partially covered by applied ring. Also a tiny natural bruise on edge of lip; no other damage. A dug bottle that has been lightly tumbled. The famous St.Julien wine of the Medoc subregion of Bordeaux, France began way back in the 1600s. This early seal emb St.Julien Medoc wine bottle dates from the 1840s or 1850s.
