The BGM-109G Gryphon was a ground launched cruise missile developed by the US to counter the mobile nuclear missiles deployed by the Soviet Union in the Eastern Bloc countries. Unlike ballistic missiles, the cruise missile can undertake more complex aerial maneuvers as well as being able to fly pre-arranged flight plans and at lower altitude. However, they fly more slowly than ballistic missiles - the Pershing II had a flight time of 10-15 minutes compared with 2 1/2 hours for the subsonic BGM-109G. The BGM-109G carried a W84 thermonuclear warhead with a range of 2,000-2,500 miles and an accuracy of 30 metres.

BGM-109G were deployed in England, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Italy between 1983 and 1991.

The MAN KAT I  is a 10t 8x8 Truck which entered service in 1976 with the German Federal Army and provides all wheel drive performance giving it superb cross country mobility. It is mainly used in a logistical role providing support and provisions to fighting units including supplies and equipment for troops and tanks. It comes in two variants, the Type 454 has a 5 tonne winch and is loaded using fork lifts and the Type 464 is equipped with a 1 tonne crane for easier loading and unloading. In US Service the MAN KAT I tractor variants are designated M1013 and M1014.
