PST 1/72 KV-1A
Russian Heavy Tank
20mm Scale
Brand new, sealed and unbuilt.
Ref No : PST72013
Named after a Marshall of the Soviet Union - Klementy Voroshilov - the KV heavy tank was the third in a trio of designs in 1938 for a replacement for the T-35. The main features of the tank were a centrally mounted turret containing a 76.2mm gun and two MG, a driver's compartment at the front with a hull MG position to the left of the driver and a rear mounted diesel engine. The wide tracks helped to reduce ground pressure and the vehicle had good armour protection.
The earliest KV-1 were produced in 1939. They were prone to frequent breakdowns but well well armoured. Early versions lacked a hull machine gun. At the time of the German invasion of the Soviet Union, 500 KV were in service. Although eventually outclassed by the Tiger I in 1942, the KV was subsequently redesigned to house an 85mm gun in the KV-85.
The Model 1940, KV-1A used the 76.2mm F-32 gun with a new mantlet. This was the main production version at the time of the German invasion of Russian in 1941.
Whether for wargaming or just building for display this brand new kit is a beauty. Not to be missed.
