Oben mittig mit Armillarsphere, Allegorien, links und rechts davon Kartographen und Gelehrte mit Vermessungsinstrumenten und Globen.

Auf einem Podest darunter mit weiteren allegorischen Figuren und Tieren.

Johann Janssonius (1588-1664), eigentlich Jan Janszoon, war ein niederländischer Kartograph, Verleger und Hersteller von Globen. 1612 heiratete er die Tochter von Jodocus Hondius und ging 1633 eine geschäftliche Partnerschaft mit seinem Schwager Henricus Hondius II. ein.

Blatt: 48,5 x 31,4 cm; Platte: 41 x 26,5 cm.

ZUSTAND

In noch guter Erhaltung. Blatt gleichmäßig gebräunt. Im rechten Außenrand restauriert (gut im Gegenlicht sichtbar). Linker Rand angefalzt.

Titel überklebt aus einer anderen Ausgabe. Dies ist nur im Gegenlicht sichtbar. Kräftiger Druck und festes Bütten.

With title and publisher's cartouche.
Top centre with armillary sphere, allegories, cartographers and scholars with surveying instruments and globes to the left and right.
On a pedestal below with further allegorical figures and animals.
Johann Janssonius (1588-1664), actually Jan Janszoon, was a Dutch cartographer, publisher and maker of globes. He married the daughter of Jodocus Hondius in 1612 and entered into a business partnership with his brother-in-law Henricus Hondius II in 1633.

MEASUREMENTS

Leaf: 48,5 x 31,4 cm; Plate: 41 x 26,5 cm.

CONDITION
Still in good condition.
Leaf evenly browned.Restored in the right outer margin (clearly visible against the light). Left margin creased.
Title pasted over from another edition. This is only visible when backlit. Strong impression and firm laid paper.
