• Egyptian Cedar wood Coffin Mask. According to the dealer tag on back this dates from the Queen Hatshepsut period. The tag is from a very reputable antiques dealer out of Michigan by the name of James Cusick Nichols. James maintained premier antique shop in SW Michigan. He was an authority on historical styles, specializing in Asian. He consulted with KIA, WMU, Kalamazoo College, and other universities on collections, authenticity and evaluation. He moved to Carmel, CA in 1978 and became a steady fixture in the antique scene; attending shows throughout California, showing the highest quality merchandise.

  • There is some provenance listed on the tag. Says it was formerly in the collection of D.B. Welker and later acquired from the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum in San Jose, California (still active / open). I purchased this from the estate of a physician in the Rancho Palos Verdes area who was a collector of asian and european antiques. (Info can be passed along after sale)

  • As I am not an expert I am selling this as found / as is with no guarantee of authenticity. Please judge the mask for yourself and factor in the reputation of the dealer, and the notes on the tag.

  • Measurements - Frame is 12" by 12", and mask is 8" by 10".

  • Condition as shown. Mask is structurally very sound. The fabric on the wood plinth is soiled and coming unglued in places. Will need to be replaced. Please note the mask color is pretty neutral brown. For some reason the mask photographs with a lot more yellow tones. Not sure if this is a pigment that the camera is picking up.

  • Local pickup Ok - Huntington Beach or Los Alamitos, CA.

  • Signature is required is on any item valued over $500. International Buyers must have good feedback. I do not sell to third party bidders / freight forwarders - including seikamon (Shop Airlines America). These bids will be blocked and winning bidders will not be honored.

  • Everything sold as is, ask questions in advance. If you have 0 feedback you must contact me prior to bidding.

Please note, shipping calculators can be very tricky - and often wrong. I ship whichever method is most cost effective for you - regardless of what the auction states. 80% of the time the package will ship via the stated service (ie: fed ex home, priority mail, etc) however I will occasionaly have to switch services in order to not lose money on shipping. Also, I do try and combine shipping if you buy multiple items - this almost always means it will ship FED EX since it is more cost effective for heavier packages. Shipping may be higher for P.O. Box, especially for larger items.

All international shipments may take up to 3 days before being shipped out (Due to customs procedures, regulations, & required in person drop off)
