Originales Blatt aus der 9. deutschen Bibel, bei Anton Koberger in Nürnberg gedruckt.

Es handelt sich um Blatt LVI aus dem 3. Buch Mose - Leviten - mit altkoloriertem Holzschnitt, darstellend den Tod der Söhne Aarons Nadab und Abiu.

Die 9. deutsche Bibel ist die erste in Nürnberg gedruckte deutsche Bibel, berühmt für ihre Illustrationen. Die Stöcke waren von Koberger aus der Holzschnittfolge zu den im Handel kaum auffindbaren Quentell-Bibeln von 1478/79 erworben worden. Die Schnitte, vom "Meister der Kölner Bibel" nach niederländischen Vorbildern entworfen, "wirkten bis Lübeck und Venedig, zeitlich bis weit ins 16. Jahrhundert, und die Illustrationen zur Apokalypse beeinflußten Dürers Holzschnittfolge" (v. Arnim).

2-spaltiger Druck, 50-zeilig, Koberger-Type, mit 3 eingemalten Initialen in Rot und Blau, Kapitelrubrizierungen sowie durchgehend in Rot rubriziert.

Blatt: 36,8 x 26 cm; Text: 32 x 19 cm; Holzschnitt: 18,5 x 12 cm.

ZUSTAND

In sehr guter Erhaltung. Kräftiger Druck und festes Büttenpapier. Nahezu fleckenfrei.

DESCRIPTION
Original leaf from the 9th German Bible, printed by Anton Koberger in Nuremberg.
This is leaf LVI from the 3rd Book of Moses - Levites - with an old coloured woodcut depicting the death of Aaron's sons Nadab and Abiu.
The 9th German Bible is the first German Bible printed in Nuremberg, famous for its illustrations. Koberger had acquired the blocks from the woodcut series for the Quentell Bibles of 1478/79, which were almost impossible to find on the market. The cuts, designed by the ‘Master of the Cologne Bible’ based on Dutch models, ‘had an effect as far as Lübeck and Venice, well into the 16th century, and the illustrations for the Apocalypse influenced Dürer's woodcut series’ (v. Arnim).
