Remastered re-release of
one of the best neo-prog albums of the 80ies

“The Wake” was
originally released in 1985 and is one of the real neo-prog classic albums. Besides Marillion, Pallas, Pendragon and Twelfth Night
IQ have played an essential role in
creating the upcoming neo-progressive sound. The album shines by strong
compositions and melodies, excellent guitar and keyboard work (including
Mellotron) and fantastic vocals. Some tracks of this album are still favourites
of IQ concerts.
After all former CD formats are not available since some years IQ have
re-released the remastered version of the deluxe box set from 2010 with 4 bonus
tracks as a single CD. The “Corners remix“ so far was only available on the very limited edition “Re:Mixed” Archive Collection CD. This album is featured in full length on iq-gep.bandcamp.com.

“The Wake” wurde ursprünglich 1985 veröffentlicht und zählt
zu den echten Neo-Prog-Klassikern. IQ haben in den 80er Jahren neben Marillion,
Pallas, Pendragon und Twelfth Night den aufkommenden neo-progressiven Sound
wesentlich mitgeprägt. Das Album besticht durch starke Kompositionen und Melodik,
hervorragende Gitarren- und Keyboardarbeit (inkl. Mellotron) und tollen Gesang.
Einige Stücke dieses Albums sind bis heute fester Bestandteil von IQ-Konzerten.
Nachdem alle bisherigen CD-Formate ausgelaufen sind, haben
IQ die remasterte Version aus dem Deluxe-Box-Set von 2010 als Einzel-CD mit
4 Bonus-Tracks wiederaufgelegt. Der Remix von “Corners“ war bisher nur auf der
mit 500 Stück sehr limitierten Archive-Collection-CD “Re:Mixed“ enthalten.
