Jewish Traveler's Prayer - Translation The Jewish prayer for safety of travelers (Hebrew : Tefilat HaDerekh) The Traveler's Prayer should be recited at the beginning of a journey, according to the Talmud (Torah). In the prayer, the traveler asks for a safe trip. English Translation : May it be Your will, O Lord my God, to lead us on the way of peace and guide and direct our steps in peace, so that You will bring us happily to our destination, safe and sound. Save us from danger on the way. Give us good grace, kindness and favor in both Your eyes and in the eyes of all whom we may meet. Hear our prayer, for you are a God who hears to the heart's supplication and communion. Blessed are You, Lord our God, who hears prayer.
The menorah is described in the Bible as the seven-branched candelabrum made of gold and used in the portable sanctuary set up by Moses in the wilderness and later in the Temple in Jerusalem. Fresh olive oil of the purest quality was burned daily to light its lamps. The menorah has been a symbol of Judaism since ancient times and is the emblem on the coat of arms of the modern state of Israel. (from wikipedia)
