The obverse inscription identifies Lucilla as "Augusta" (wife of Lucius Verus ) and "daughter of Antoninus Augustus" ( daughter of Marcus Aurelius). Lucilla was the highly capable eldest surviving child of Marcus Aurelius and Faustina the Younger. She likely would've made a much better emperor than her younger brother Commodus. Unfortunately for Lucilla, she was caught up in a failed assassination attempt on the increasingly unstable Commodus and was executed in 182 CE. Some cleaning scratches and earthen deposits. Smoothing from ancient circulation.
