Grading visually/optically.

Still Sealed / Mint : Record is still sealed and new.

NM = near mint : Record is in near mint condition. Little to hardly played. The cover is in great condition, no tears, no splits or anything like that.

EX = excellent: Only very light surface marks on the vinyl. No audible scratches, just the slightest restrictions. The cover only shows very slight traces and is still in very good condition.

VG+ = very good plus: The record has been played several times and you can hear slight background noise, but it plays without any real limitations. The cover looks good to very good overall, with slight signs of wear, small creases or similar.

VG = very good: The vinyl has been played often, there may be loud background noise, especially in quiet passages. The needle doesn't jump, no deep scratches. The cover is heavily used and shows the usual marks, several light creases, scuffs on the edges, e.g..

VG- = very good minus: Strong background noise when playing, but the needle shouldn't jump. The cover is heavily used and has many creases and similar defects.

G / G+ = good or good plus: The vinyl is in poor condition overall. Audible scratches or background noise may occur. Of course it can be played, but it has very loud background noise. The cover may have cracks, strong abrasion, e.g...
