Synopsis :

Oscar nominated director Agnes kahlan has brought the unknown story of British journalist Gareth Jones to the big screen. In 1933, Gareth Jones (James Norton) was an ambitious young Welsh journalist. As the first foreign journalist to fly with Hitler and complete the interview, he became famous after the report was published. As a diplomatic adviser to former Prime Minister David Laurie George, Jones is also trying to find the next big news to show his ambition. At the same time, the overwhelming news about the Soviet Union's "Utopia" caused Jones' curiosity to understand how Stalin had provided financial impetus for the rapid modernization of the Soviet Union. After leaving office in the government, Jones decided to go to Moscow and try to interview Stalin in person. Later, he met the British journalist ADA Brooks (Vanessa Kirby), a British journalist working in Moscow. ADA was committed to revealing the truth of the violent suppression of the regime. At that time, news of the famine caused by the government spread widely and was classified as sensitive secret by the Soviet censors. Jones tried to avoid the blockade of the authorities and went to Ukraine in secret. At the same time, all the food was sold overseas in exchange for the funds needed for the industrialization of the Soviet empire. Jones was arrested and deported and returned to London to publish an article revealing the horrors he had witnessed. But under pressure from the Kremlin, all Western journalists in Moscow, including the Pritz prize winning journalist Peter Sarsgaard, denied the existence of famine. With the increasing threat of death, Jones had to fight for the truth. After meeting a young writer named George Orwell, Jones shared his findings It inspired Orwell to write the great fable novel animal farm against totalitarianism.
