Season 3 - The Codys are back, and the ties that bind them are about to be stretched to the limit in the third season of this bold, adrenaline-fueled hit drama about a Southern California crime family. Ellen Barkin (Sea of Love) stars as Cody clan matriarch Janine "Smurf" Cody, who takes in estranged grandson Joshua "J" Cody (Finn Cole, Peaky Blinders) following his mother's overdose on heroin. In last season's shocking conclusion, second-in-command Baz (Scott Speedman, The Vow) was shot while on his way to Mexico after framing Smurf for murder. His fate is revealed in the Season Three premiere, which opens with Smurf still in jail and her grandson J in charge of the family business. The Cody men find themselves increasingly divided as they fight for both control and their independence, but have to come together when outside threats emerge. Denis Leary (Judgment Night) makes his series debut as Billy, Deran's drifter dad, who comes back to make amends but may have other motives.
Season Four opens with Janine "Smurf" Cody (Ellen Barkin) back on top, reminding her boys who's boss -- no matter whom she hurts in the process. Trapped with Smurf and becoming increasingly unhinged, Andrew "Pope" Cody (Shawn Hatosy) finds new and dangerous ways to deal with his anger. Joshua "J" Cody (Finn Cole) continues to scheme, while tough, impulsive Craig (Ben Robson) plots one of their most difficult heists and Deran (Jake Weary) worries about his future with Adrian (Spencer Treat Clark). As always, outsiders move in, threatening the Codys' fragile peace. Among them are Angela (Emily Deschanel) -- the former best friend of J's deceased mother and a recovering junkie, who tries to snake her way back into the family's good graces -- and Mia (Sohvi Rodriguez), along with a new criminal crew that has a surprising connection to the Codys.
In Season Five, Pope (Shawn Hatosy), Craig (Ben Robson), Deran (Jake Weary) and J (Finn Cole) are still dealing with the fallout from the events surrounding Smurf's death, including family members out for revenge. With their kingdom without a leader, the Cody family's struggle to maintain their fragile alliance, and to see which of them will come out on top. Meanwhile, they search for more information on Pamela Johnson whom Smurf made the beneficiary of her estate. And back in 1984, an increasingly volatile 29-year-old Smurf is forging her own path raising Pope and Julia and leading the charge on dangerous jobs with new and old friends.
When his mother overdosed on heroin, California 17-year-old Joshua "J" Cody (Finn Cole) had his extended family to fall back on for a sheltering home. Unfortunately, as his grandmother (Ellen Barkin) and uncles (Scott Speedman, Shawn Hatosy, Ben Robson, Jake Weary) are a reprobate clan of career criminals, he might have been better off in the system.
