What is a AC Compressor?
In short, the air conditioning compressor moves gas from the evaporator, compresses it, and then delivers it at high pressure and temperature to the condenser, where it is converted into refrigerant gas, cooling the air in the vehicle cabin. The compressor is carefully designed to bring you comfort faster and improve fuel economy and emissions.
How do I know if I have AC Compressor?
- Poor A/C Performance: The most obvious sign of a compressor problem may be poor A/C performance.
If you notice that your cabin is warmer than usual, or the A/C is blowing warm air.
- Freon Levels: If your A/C system has optimal Freon (refrigerant) levels (not too much and not too little),
but your A/C is still not working properly, this is often a sign of a faulty A/C compressor.
- Erratic A/C Performance: The compressor may work fine one day and not work the next.
- Sudden drop in A/C performance.
