An antique natural shell bangle, constructed with two halves and hung on a later elasticated thread, decorated with engraved & inlaid gold and silver piqué decoration, and hung with a shell orb drop.
Rather unusual, very collectible & wearable too!
CONDITION: Signs of wear & natural abrasions commensurate with age and use. Inlay loss to both halves, chip to inner section - please see pictures. Fraying to thread, may need replacing in future.
DATE/MARKS: Around 1870. Not marked.
DIMENSIONS: 6 ½ inches inner diameter, orb 16 mm diameter (1 inch = 25.4 mm). To give an impression of scale, the coin is 19 mm or ¾ of an inch diameter.
WEIGHT: Approx. 33.0 grams.
