thd.electronics.surplus is an eBay store that we created to sell primarily electronics surplus items, which we have accumulated, and to keep these separate from the Music Industry products that we design and manufacture. We have been around since 1987, at a number of different locations in and around Seattle, WA. We didn’t want a long list of surplus components, tools, and electronic equipment to cause confusion with our own products, so we created this new eBay identity in August of 2022. If you look at our other eBay store, thd.company.store, you will see our history and 100% positive feedback rating.
The sale is for single units, so if you want multiple units, you have to select the quantity you want.
These NEC 2SB706A power transistors are new, unused. They were purchased decades ago, for repair work on power amplifiers.

A note about hfe measurements:
A customer measured one of these on a small, handheld Chinese transistor tester. These are made for small signal transistors, like those in TO-92 packages. They cannot give accurate or even useful measurements on large power transistors.
I found the original NEC data sheet on the transistors, and it shows a minimum HFE of 20, when measured with 50mA of current. The little Chinese testers that most people have tests with roughly 10 micro Amperes, and my Sencore Super Cricket tests at a maximum of 300 micro Amperes. The hfe curves don’t show a measurement in those ranges, because it takes a LOT more current than that to turn a large die power transistor like this on, and to get it near its more-or-less linear range. Testing at 2A, the minimum HFE is 40, but who can test at that range? My friend's Tektronix 575 curve tracer can't go anywhere near that high.
They are 100% guaranteed by us. If one arrives damaged or not working, we will replace it. We will NOT accept returns on a transistor because it tests low on hfe on your transistor tester, unless you can show that it was tested at the quoted current ranges.
The item will be packed in an oversized, strong box, with ample padding between the item and the shipping carton. We have a lot of experience packing fine and fragile things, having shipped around 200,000 sensitive items over the past 40 years, to dozens of countries around the world.
