William Suckling & Sons Silver plate, Birmingham, England


Founded by William Suckling in 1895, the company specialized in a very large range of silver-plated holloware marketed under the trade mane BURMESE, REGIS PLATE, KINGSWAY PLATE and PLATINE METAL. The firm went out of business in 1965.  The "signpost" mark was used also by William R. Shirtcliffe of Sheffield.

EPNS represents Electro Plated Nickel Silver - meaning silver plated over a base metal alloy made mostly of nickel. 
The symbol "A1" on silverware is a marking used to indicate the number of ounces of pure silver used in the plating process. The marks used on silverware vary by country. On the reverse side of silverware, one can usually find one or more indented marks.

13 cm tall
Crystal jar is 9 cm high.
The base of the jar has a diameter of 7 cm, the top is a little smaller in diameter 6 1/2 cm and the lid is 7 cm

Minor wear from age. 
Good condition.
