My name is Søren Hawkes M.A.

a British Artist & illustrator who has exhibited previously at the Royal Academy in London.

My family has close ties to Ypres, my Great Uncle Patrick Thomas Staunton was killed here in 1915 and is one of the 55,000 listed as missing on the Menin Gate Memorial.

His younger brother ( my Great Grandfather) Pte Maurice Augustus Staunton was a 15 year old Lancashire Fusilier who survived the Somme in 1916 then badly wounded at Passchendaele in October 1917, leaving him scarred for life.
