The Juniper MPC-3D-16XGE-SFPP is a fixed-configuration Modular Port Concentrator (MPC) that’s compatible with several MX Series routers, including the MX240, the MX480, the MX960, the MX2008, the MX2010 and the MX2020.
You can equip two MPCs in an MX240 router, six MPCs in an MX480 router, 11 in an MX960 router, 10 in MX2008 and MX2010 routers and 20 in an MX2020 router.
Because the Juniper MPC-3D-16XGE-SFPP is designed as a fixed-configuration MPC, it does not contain separate slots for Modular Interface Card (MIC) slots.
The Juniper MPC-3D-16XGE-SFPP is equipped with sixteen 10G Ethernet ports, all of which support SFP+ optical transceivers.
It also supports LAN-PHY mode, but at a different throughput based on the Switch Control Board (SCB) that’s installed on the router.
Both an SCBE and SCBE2, the latest SBCs, support up to 160 Gbps, but the original SCB supports only 120 Gbps of throughput, which limits the line rate to only twelve 10G Ethernet ports. If all 16 SFP+ ports are used, the MPC will be oversubscribed.
In addition, the MPC-3D-16XGE-SFPP does not support WAN-PHY mode.
