Memoroboblia: selling high quality vintage sports memorabilia on Ebay since May 25, 2000 !!!
This vintage scorecard is in VERY GOOD (minimal cover wear, see scan) condition. Item is in 6 1/4" x 10 1/16" format (one 'page' of cardboard stock i.e. a front and a back)
It took the research team here at Memoroboblia headquarters a little bit of time to figure out just what this piece is. It turns out this is a pretty hard to find item. It is a scorecard handed out by the (now defunct) Chicago American newspaper. It was likely handed out to patrons as they either entered the stadium or approached Comiskey Park.
We have this item and another one listed separately. This scorecard is from a game played on July 19, 1953, the second game of a Sunday doubleheader. The lineup is pre-printed (thus incorrect for this game when referencing baseball-reference.com).
The Yankees topped the Sox in the 2nd game of the doubleheader by a score of 3 to 0. Hank Bauer homered and Vic Raschi went the distance to earn the shutout.
It is a pretty cool display piece. And displays both the White Sox and Cubs home schedules for the 1953 season.
