 My car charms are especially made to hang from your rear-view mirror.   I have used a length of gold colored cord that has a gold colored metal snap clasp for hanging around the mirror mount.  From this dangles a black (with gold accents) ceramic "Lucky Cat" cat bead and assorted glass beads with a pale green pressed glass fish bead at the bottom end. 

Total length of this is 7-1/2" including the hanging strap.
