This listing is for an Antique Made in Italy Pressed Felt Face Doll , about 11 inches tall , with a paper label stamped with what appears to be similar to Postal inked stamp, which has faded , along with Lombarda Lombarda N. (75) O4 and MADE IN ITALY printed on it , felt hands , Dress with Apron and Scarf , which I am not sure if it at one point was on the head or if it originally draped shoulders, Hand Painted Face , weighing 175 grams net.

Lenci or Type

The ink stamp on back is faded and hard to read. " MODELLO delle "  on first line , " Sale " starting the second line . One can kind of make out Firenze in the round part of ink stamp, and if you can modify image and have good eyes and patience , you probably can make out more , including I beleive a date ( as would be on a postal overprint stamp to void the actual stamp).

Brown spot stains smaller than a lentil perhaps even 1/2 lentil on back of scarf on one side , a couple on the legs . Very light fading of cloth. Very minor yellowing of silk socks.  face and felt hands look great . Neck , two arms and two legs are wire jointed ( see underside image to see end of wires that connect legs to body, to get an idea of how they are connected.

I have not been able to determine the maker, weather the Makers name is Lombarda or if such is the Doll or Artist Name. I have not found any Identification Marks as it is set forth for a Lenci doll to have.

I am not sure what the filling is but I have taken image of what is inside the head from Original opening on the back of the head , which I guess would be covered by the hair that is not sitting on that spot. It is solid and hard. Wild Guess pieces of cork? I am not going to mess with the hair and original opening on back of the head but I think should hair be set, it will cover this opening, and I am pretty sure that is how it originally would have been..

I have not found any reference to "Lombarda".

If you have any information about this doll or its maker, please let me know.

A piece of fishing line is looped round the neck which I guess its previous owner which was a doll collector had used to perhaps hang the doll from a hanging display.
