DESIGN MATE geometric pattern wheels 1970s art kit Spirograph competitor
This is a previously-owned, plastic “Design Mate” art activity manufactured independently in the late 1970s or early 1980s (catalog #99776). It includes several pattern wheels and two of the original pencils (see picture), as well as the box, which shows general wear-and-tear. Like Spirograph, this drawing device produces mathematical roulette curves of the variety technically known as hypotrochoids and epitrochoids.
