RUSSIAN LACQUER WORK PANEL
A beautiful Russian lacquer work papier-mache panel, formerly the lid of a box.
Of very beautiful and vibrant colours, particularly the gold, red and emerald green shades. Russian lacquer art evolved out of ecclesiastical icon painting and this example has a 16th Century Renaissance style.
Signed at the base of the image.
Date: Vintage, probably mid 20th Century.
Condition: Fair condition. Close examination shows several cracks in the surface finish to the front face.
