You are bidding on Candide by Francois Marie Arouet Voltaire, translated from the French by Tobias Smollet, with illustrations by Antoni Clave. The Franklin Library, Franklin Center, Pennsylvania published the book special contents copyright 1979. The interior is in fine condition. The gold gilt edge pages are tight and clean. It is printed on Franklin Library acid free paper. There are no marks or tears. No signs of prior ownership. The beautiful hubbed spine leatherette cover is in fine condition. It is 6” x 9 1/4” and 154 pages. There are several interesting illustrations by Antoni Clave. They first appeared in the 1948 edition published by Chez Jean Porson, Paris. The book is in unread condition. Laid in the front is a blank Franklin Library book plate.
