I designed this book for artists and art students who appreciate the special quality of 'deckled' handmade paper and who love natural vintage leather. It has an 'antique' finish.
The cover is vintage buffalo hide and is coloured a rich mahogany brown with a black dye that is derived from indigo.

The book contains 100 pages/200 usable sides of deckled handmade cotton paper that is moulded from natural cotton fibres. Each page is moulded individually in a 'deckel' or frame and remains uncut - hence the frayed or ragged edge to the page.
This book has a luxurious and richly tactile quality, but its materials and construction also make it exceptionally tough and durable. The folios of paper are sewn into the leather cover with a traditional 'Italian' stitch - a style of binding that guarantees a long life.
The edge of the cover is 'laced' with matching leather thong. There is a solid cast-brass swivel lock to close it.
I love working with leather, but for ethical reasons I only use vintage leather for my books- ie leather from working animals that have come to the end of their lives.
