1000 Mixed Flat Plastic Packers 32 × 100 mm

What is it?

A flat glazing packer is a rigid polypropylene shim, 32 × 100 mm, made in six thicknesses from 1 mm to 6 mm — a different colour for each. It supports and spaces a glass sealed unit inside its frame, and packs, levels and squares almost anything else. Load-bearing yet waterproof: minimal compression under heavy loads, and it will not rot or decay.

Where is it used, and who by?

Far more than glazing. Toe-and-heel packing of sealed units, squaring windows and doors during installation, levelling worktops and furniture, creating a thermal or moisture break, and spacing out cladding, bricks or tiles — glaziers, carpenters, floor layers and tilers keep a box on the van.

Which thickness do I need?

Pick by colour — the colour tells you the size. Green 1 mm · Black 2 mm · White 3 mm · Grey 4 mm · Blue 5 mm · Red 6 mm. Stack two for an in-between size, and cut a packer shorter with a knife where the gap is narrow. Suits sealed units up to 28 mm for toe and heel.

Will they crush, or rot?

Neither. Quality polypropylene shows minimal compression under load and is impervious to moisture, so the packer that levels a unit today is still doing it in twenty years — and it will not rot the way a timber wedge does. Made in England, not imported. The same tried-and-tested packer we use ourselves every day.
