US Colt 1911 Pistol Framed Blueprint

This particular design is of the US Colt 1911 pistol. Originally designed in 1911, the pistol was introduced into US service from 1911 to 1913. As the US entered WW1, the Colt 1911 saw service on the Western Front and proved itself to be highly effective, although some changes were eventually made to the design. The new pistol was given the designation M1911 and was the US standard issue pistol in WW2. The pistol once again proved its worth and continued to be used by the US military for many years. Versions of the M1911 are still in sevice with US units and in other nations and the pistol is held in high regard all over the world.
