Wonder Woman Character StuffIn 1942, an Amazonian princess nursed a downed American pilot, Steve Trevor, back to health. Blessed with great strength and agility, she accompanied him back to the United States as Wonder Woman, woman warrior against the forces of war and evil. DC's earliest major female superhero reigned for more than 40-years in this, her first series. Ironically, it took her alter-ego, Diana Prince, almost as long to advance from a low-ranking army nurse to a major. When the U.S. prepared for battle in the opening days of World War II, the comics industry did its part to keep up morale, introducing a number of patriotic character. One such character was Wonder Woman: Princess Diana of a woman-ruled island paradise who decided to strike out on her own to fight for justice in the world. In addition to her great strength and speed and clad in a star-spangled costume, armed only with Feminium bracelets (which she uses to deflect bullets and shrapnel), and a magic golden lasso which compels those encircled to speak the truth, Wonder Woman dosen't so much fight criminals as try to bring the ways of peace and truth to the world. Of course, in the times of World War II, the most obvious way to accomplish this was to join the allied forces. Now, in her second series, Diana faces, not the Nazi threat, but more day-to-day troubles, such as crime and victimization.Item Description Stuff9.2 NEAR MINT– (NM–): Nearly perfect with only a minor additional defect or defects that keep it from Near Mint. Corners are cut square and sharp with ever-so-slight blunting permitted. A 1/16-1/8" bend is permitted with no color break. No creases.
