Q.What are mini split air conditioners ?

A. Like the central air conditioner units, mini split air conditioners have two main components: an outdoor compressor/condenser, and an indoor air-handling unit. A conduit, which houses the power cable, refrigerant tubing, suction tubing, and a condensate drain, links the outdoor and indoor units through a small hole (3 inches usually) that is drilled in the wall of the building. The main advantages of split air conditioners are their small size and flexibility for zoning or heating and cooling individual rooms. Some split air conditioners can have as many as four indoor air handling units (for four zones or rooms) connected to one outdoor unit. The number depends on how much heating or cooling is required for the building or each zone (which is also affected by how well the building is insulated). Since each of the split air conditioner zones/rooms will have it's own thermostat, you only need to condition that area when someone is present, which saves energy and money. If you are in a office building at a higher floor, you can also install Outside Compressor using our Wall Bracket.
Q. Is this something that I could install myself ?

A. YES and NO. Depends if you are good technically. You may or may not be able to do it. Some people do the handyman work on the indoor and outdoor unit and pay a small amount to an electrician to hard wire the outdoor unit and pay HVAC professional to vaccuum the lines before releasing the refrigerant. Some people choose to do it all by themselves with their past experience. Manufacturer recommends to have it installed by an HVAC professional. Any of your local professional air conditioning company should be able to install it easily for couple of hundred dollars. It is worth spending this money initially, this way you can have it installed professionally and enjoy the benefits of energy efficient mini split AC for year's to come.

But How easy are the units to install? To ensure an easy installation and fault free operation, we recommend the unit be installed by a professional HVAC installer.

 

Q. How noisy are the units ?

A. WHISPER QUIET OPERATION is one of the many reasons why they are very popular. The indoor units are typically no noisier than a standard domestic fan, but as they do make some noise, consideration should be given to their location.

 

Q. How does it work ?

A. Ductless split system uses a high quality compressor and environmentally friendly “green” refrigerant to cool your home, and an innovative heat pump technology to keep your interiors warm in cold weather. The near silent operation is made possible by installing the compressor outside your home or offi ce. The air handler (indoor AC unit) in your dwelling is designed for ideal climate control, allowing you to cool or heat or dehumidify your interiors. You can conveniently adjust the fan speed, air flow direction, and oscillating louvers via remote control, or simply set the 24 hour timer for care free operation.

 

 

Q. How will it look in my home or office ?

Q. How much do they cost to run ?

A. These energy efficient units provide localized cooling and heating for certain parts of your home or office, rather than cooling or heating other areas that are not occupied. This localized climate control enables you to reduce your energy bills. SEER ratings we have is the best standard in industry and mini split AC's are most energy efficient AC's you can ever find.

 

 

Q. Can I put the unit in a Basement, Attic, Garage, Office building ?

A. Depening on various situations. The Ductless Split can be easily installed anywhere. In all cases, the drain pipe is pitched to the outside. In some cases, a condensate pump may be required.

 

Q. Instead of installing compressor on the ground or backyard, can I install the compressor on the roof? Can the connection lines go up to the roof, instead going down ?

A. Absolutely Yes. You can install the compressor on the roof or on the ground, would not make any difference. This is why mini splits are so convinient for installations. Check the installation diagram below.

 

Q. What is the operating range of Ductles Split units ?

A. The units are rated to work between 0-109°F or more depending upon the features you get

 

Q. Can this be installed by an individual who is certified electrician ?

A. If you decide to install it yourself, will you need vacuums to charge up the lines. you assume that the lines need to be charged up with refrigerant and that it has to be setup by a qualified air conditioning technician correct?. YES. YOU WILL NEED A SET OF GAUGES FOR R410A AND A VACUUM OR JUST CONTACT A HVAC QUALIFIED SERVICE TECH AND PAY BETWEEN $150-$200 FOR A FINAL SET-UP AFTER YOU INSTALL THE UNIT.

 

Q. Do I have to use a Vaccuum ?

A. Vacuuming the lines is essential under any weather conditions. The actual procedure is dehydrating the lines with a vacuum pump. You are taking all the air and moisture out of the lines. There is moisture in any air at any given time, and it will get into any lines that were open. If you don't do this, the system may have a complete failure within weeks of operation.

 

 

Q. If I wanted to run the AC on cooling mode below 60 deg outside, how can I do it without freezing the unit ?

A. Usually people use heat mode below 60 deg, This is only for people who want the cool mode ON even below 60 deg to keep some of their equipment cold in the winter time. 
You can add a low Ambience features to the outdoor unit so it does not freeze on cooling mode below 60 deg. Remember the outdoor unit does not freeze on heating mode when the temp outside is below 60 deg. 
There are generic kits that can be picked up at local HVAC suppliers that will work. They really need to be installed by qualified HVAC technicians. Supco is one brand of these types of units.
It is installed inside the outdoor unit. It is a circuit board about the
size of a cigarette pack and requires a little creativity to find a spot it
will fit in. It then needs to be wired into the existing electronics of the
unit. They vary from $125-$250 (could be bit higher depending upon where you buy it from).

 

Q. Can the indoor unit be installed upside down ?

A. NO.

 

Q. What is the issue in installing Indoor Unit it upside down ?

A. Unit would not drain properly and water would flow into the unit shorting out controls.

 

 

Q. Why choose a mini split air conditioner ?

A. A mini split air conditioner is a cost effective choice to central air conditioning. However, it is typically more expensive than a wall or window air conditioner and you need a professional to install it. Since the compressor sits outside the split air conditioner is very quiet and efficient. Since mini splits have no ducts, they avoid the energy losses associated with the ductwork of central forced air systems. Duct losses can account for more than 30% of energy consumption for space conditioning, especially if the ducts are in an unconditioned space such as an attic.

Mini split air conditioners are also sometimes easier to install than other types of air conditioning systems. For example, the hook-up between the outdoor and indoor units generally requires only a three inch hole through a wall for the conduit. Also, most manufacturers of this type of system can provide a variety of lengths of connecting conduits. So, if necessary, you can locate the outdoor unit as far away as 50 feet from the indoor evaporator. This makes it possible to cool rooms on the front side of a building or house with the compressor in a more advantageous or inconspicuous place on the outside of the building.

In comparison to other add-on systems, split air conditioners offer more flexibility in interior design options. The indoor air handlers can be suspended from a ceiling, mounted flush into a drop ceiling, or hung on a wall. Floor-standing models are also available. Most indoor units have profiles of about seven inches deep and usually come with sleek, high tech-looking jackets.

 

Q. Is this something that I could install myself ?
A. YES AND NO. If you are not sure what you are doing, you will end up installing it incorrectly and thereby will loose the warranty.

 

Q. Does this operate like regular AC with help of Thermostat ?
A.

THERMOSTAT IS JUST LIKE THE CONVENTIONAL WALL THERMOSTAT THAT TURNS ON FOR COOLING AND HEATING. So once you set the temperature for the room for example 70 deg in AC mode, the compressor outside will run and then will shut off once the room is 70 deg, but the indoor unit will keep running to circulate and clean the air. Once the temp of the room jumps up to 75 deg or example, the compressor outside will turn on again and bring the temp in the room down to 70 deg.

The only time it will turn off is if you shut it off Or have it set on a timer setting.

 

Q. Is outside Ductles Split unit a metal or a plastic case ?
A. Metal case as plastic vibrates and make a buzz. It is made of Galvanized enamel coated metal.
ALL SPLIT CONDENSERS ARE 100% WEATHERPROOF. 
RAIN, SUN AND SNOW WON'T BOTHER.

 

Q. Can the distance between indoor and outdoor be more than 25 ft. ?

A.

1. Is it ok to extend it upto 90 ft? YES IT IS. 
2. What kind of pipe extentions or what quality do I need? Either solder silver the new copper lines on or flair with a coupling. 
3. Where will I get this quality from? home depot? YES, Home depot or any plumbing supply store.

 

Q. What is the copper tubing diameters for all Ductles Split units ?
A. They vary, but mostly 1/4 and 1/2 TUBING FOR 9K & 12K UNITS 
3/8 and 5/8 TUBING FOR 18K & 24K UNITS.

 

Q. Where on the wall should I install the indoor unit and How high ?

A. 4" FROM THE TOP OF THE AIR HANDLER INSIDE AND CEILING IS REQUIRED.

 
Q. What if I want the indoor unit installed at a 6 ft high ?
A. IF YOU HAVE NO CHOICE AND WANT TO MOUNT IT LOWER, EFFICINECY WILL BE LOW AND MAY NOT COOL WELL. COLD AIR FALLS AND WARM AIR RISES. So higher the indoor unit, better it will cool the roof.

 

Q. Can I install indoor unit 2 ft above the floor ?
A. Not recommended but may work ok though. FLOOR MOUNT IS NOT RECOMMENDED IN MINI SPLITS. But you can buy a PTAC instead for such application.

 

Q. Do these Ductles mini splits have air purification capabilities? Air filters ?

 

A. Yes. Cold catalyst air filter.

 

Q. Are there controls on the indoor unit itself or only a remote control ?
A. ON THE REMOTE ONLY.

 

Q. Can the outdoor unit be in the straight line with indoor unit ?
A. Straight betwen condenser and air handler line is ok .

 

Q. What size breaker and gauge wire would you suggest on Ductles Split units ?

A. They vary. But mostly for a 24,000 btu unit is rated for a 20 amp breaker, which requires 12 gauge wire at 25’ (distance between outdoor unit and the breaker) 
The 18,000 btu unit is rated for a 15 amp breaker, which requires 14 gauge wire at 25’ (distance between outdoor unit and the breaker) 
The 12,000 btu unit is rated for a 20 amp breaker, which requires 12 gauge wire at 25’ (distance between outdoor unit and the breaker)

But out of thousands of units sold every year, there maybe some instances that the product you received is damaged or defective. We have the following policy for such situations:-


DAMAGED / DEFECTIVE EXCHANGE
If unit (any product) is defective, we will gladly make an exchange or send parts for repair. If the unit is delivered damaged, we will have it picked up and send a new replacement at our cost. You will not pay a single cent.
Exchanges will only be made with the same model - if customer upgrades or downgrades to a different model, we'll treat it as a return and new order.

RETURNS
If customer does not want exchange and wants to return it instead and wants a refund, customer is responsible to ship unit back to our warehouse at their own expense; restocking fee of 19% will apply regardless if damaged / defective and original shipping fee will not be refunded. Usually there should be no reason for returns, if there is any problem with the product we will exchange it with a BRAND NEW product at no extra cost to you. Once product(s) is/are shipped, all Packages Refused are considered as returns as well and return policy will apply at the time of refund.

* Shipping for portable AC's is $69-$89 per unit depending upon which portable AC you buy and Shipping and handling for a mini split Ac is $160 - $450/per unit depening upon which package you buy. Shipping and handling for Air Coolers is $35/per unit. Shipping and Handling on fragrances is $5.99/per unit. This shipping fee will be deducted from the refund if you decide to return, even if the product was sold with FREE shipping promotion.

* All returns and replacements must be requested within 15 days after the receipt of the product. * As we cannot file for any claims after 15 days with the shipping company.

CANCELLATIONS
If you placed the order and you wanted to cancel the order BEFORE IT IS SHIPPED, we will gladly cancel your order and $15.99 cancellation fee will be charged and 3% credit card processing charges will not be refunded. Please make sure that you call us within few hours after the order is placed. We ship the items out same or next business day. We cannot process cancellations after the product is shipped out. It will be considered as a return instead once the product is shipped and you will need to pay the return charges. If the delivery of the shipment is refused same return policy will apply. Once the item is shipped, the shipping company will not refund us the shipping fee back and will charge us for shipping both ways, this will not be refunded if cancelled after the product is shipped and 19% restocking fee will still apply.

WARRANTY

Kingersons Store Warranty: If anything defective or damaged upon delivery contact Kingersons within 15 days. Kingersons at that point will provide free replacement. After first 30 days, your warranty for parts and compressor is moved from Kingersons to the Manufacturer. 
Manufacturer warranty: Once the warranty rolls over to the manufacturer, you will have a toll free number for your tech support for any assistance you may need with the product in future. On Air Conditoners you will receive five years on compressor and one year on parts from them.
