For the Baseball Hobbyist. . . 1933-1983 Yankees All-Star ~ Type B* card #11 Alphonso E. "Al" DOWNING (All-Star) Robert Steven Simon art card, issued by TCMA, Ltd. Baseball cards picturing oldtimers, commemoratives and reprints were the staples of a company by the name of The Card Memorabilia Associates, Limited (TCMA) for several years. The company produced many outstanding products and among their finest was this card issued in 1983. *What does Type "B" card mean? Recently it came to our attention that this card was issued in two sizes: approximately 2-3/4 by 3-1/2 inches and a bit larger (as this card) at 3" by 3-3/4". The cards may be further differentiated by the lack of the MLB logo on BOTH versions. In addition, some sets of the larger cards feature the MLB logo on the reverse. (We have not yet observed the smaller version cards with MLB logo.) To summarize: A = cards measuring 2-3/4" by 3-1/2" (no MLB logo on reverse); B = 3" by 3-3/4" cards (no MLB logo); and C = 3" by 3-3/4" cards (with MLB logo). This Type B card measures approximately 3" by 3-3/4 inches (no MLB logo) and resembles the popular 1950 Bowman Gum cards. It is made from an original painting by artist Robert Steven Simon and depicts a New York Yankee All-Star, one of many over the first 50 years of All-Star games. The reverse side features an excellent word-picture of the player. The original of this card was presented to the player and/or his family on "Old Timers' Day 1983". Condition: Excellent-Plus/Near-Mint _______________________ Important: Shipping Information Our goal has always been to keep shipping costs low. Our objective is to sell cards and other things of interest to baseball hobbyists - not make money by overcharging on shipping.
