Walter "Buck" Leonard ~ Homestead Grays BLACK BALL postcard by Pomegranate "WALTER "BUCK" LEONARD (born 1907) connecting for a home run against the Baltimore Elites at Griffith Stadium, 1945. Batting ahead of power-hitting catcher JOSH GIBSON, Leonard played a key role in leading the Homestead Grays to a decade-long dominance of the Negro Leagues. Leonard was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972." Good quality, limited edition cards depicting players from the old Negro Baseball Leagues are difficult to find. Offered here is a card from a series by Pomegranate utilizing a larger 4-3/4" by 5-1/2" in duotone. A brief player biography is included on the divided postcard-style reverse.
