Identification Note
See below to help identify TH700R4 units with auxiliary valve body and non-auxiliary valve body cases.

1982-1986 / early 1987 units were generally non-auxiliary valve body units. 1987 is a split year.

On 1987-up auxiliary valve body units, the casting line through the cooler line area is an easy giveaway. Non-auxiliary valve body cases do not have that casting line.

Friction Material Explanation
We see many listings on eBay described as Heavy Duty or High Performance when the materials used do not actually support those claims.

Tan, light brown, and dark brown paper frictions are generally stock-type materials. They are not true heavy duty or high performance materials.

Green / grey graphite fleck and black carbon / graphite materials are a step up. HEG materials are considered Heavy Duty, while black carbon / graphite materials can be considered both Heavy Duty and High Performance.
