1946 Berkeley - The Musketeer 42" Balsa Plane for Gas Powered .15 to .19 Engines5 Here up for sale is a Berkeley (Brooklyn, NY) brand "The Musketeer" 42" wingspan balsa wood gas powered plane kit from 1946. It is designed for class A engines of .15 to .19 displacement, not included. Kit appears to be complete, with all the plane parts present as shown. The rubber wheels are 2" diameter. The tissue paper has some brown specks throughout, but might still be usable. One of the three balsa sheets pre-ink stamped to cut out the parts has some damage in a 2" x 0.5" area of one corner, but it would be easy to reproduce that piece from another piece of balsa. The original tube of glue is flattened and empty, either from use or evaporation. The metal coil spring has some surface corrosion. A length of heavy gauge insulated wire is also included. These last two mentioned parts may not have originally been part of the kit. Box is in fairly rough shape, with three corners split and damage to the front paper label as shown. This is old hobby shop stock. Nice item for the vintage gas powered plane collector enthusiast. Check out the other items in my ebay store, since you can combine items to save on shipping.
