Sir Walter Nash (1882 - 1968) Labour Politician & 27th Prime Minister of New Zealand.
An interesting pair of typed letters, both signed “W Nash” to the economist Dudley Bradshaw and on “N.Z House of Representatives/Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition” notepaper. The contents refer to Bradshaw’s opinions on Surplus Trading with Under-Developed Countries.
Dated October 19th 1962:
“The letter which you wrote to me under date of the 9th instant is of particular interest in connection with the major problem facing the world today, but it is not possible for me to study the suggestions which you make just at the present time, but I will do so later and then will write you again”
Dated March 29th 1963
“I shall study the material you were good enough to send with the other material that I previously studied to see if there is a way in which the particular suggestion which you make can be advocated in connection with the assistance for making the surplus commodities available to the under-developed countries..”
Sir Walter Nash held the Offices of Prime Minister (1957-60) and Leader of the Opposition (1951-57, 1960-63) of New Zealand.
