If you plan on recording digital you'll need a IEEE 1394 firewire cable from 4-pin to 4-pin or 4-pin to 6-pin. They're about $6 plus shipping here on eBay. The VCR has a 4-pin connection, just check your monitor to see if it's 4-pin or 6-pin. This VCR new did not come with a firewire cable. According to Google it came with:

one stereo audio/video (RCA) cable set

an RF coaxial cable

a cable controller (IR blaster) for setting up automatic recordings with external cable or satellite boxes

an owner's guide/manual

and AA batteries for the remote.
