For sale are 2 Japanese Ainu bamboo charcoal figures of salmons and bears in good to very good overall condition.  One or both crafted figure(s) may have a small nick(s), scuff(s), flaw(s), wear, dust, etc.  Please refer to the photographs to determine the overall condition and quality of the craftsmanship, detailing, size, uniqueness, etc.

In Japan, bamboo charcoal is molded or coated into cute decorative shapes—such as animals, lucky charms, and seasonal motifs—to freshen entryways, closets, bathrooms, refridgerators, etc.

The figure of a salmon biting a bear is the second one we have seen in 20+ years.  It is about 7cm (2 3/4") high, 12cm (4 11/16") long, 7cm (2 3/4") wide and weighs 215 grams.  The figure of a bear biting a salmon is about 7cm (2 3/4") high, 9.5cm (3 3/4") long, 8cm (3 1/8") wide and weighs 170 grams.

Duties and Taxes Information

UNITED STATES BUYERS:  In accordance with eBay policy, all import duties and custom clearance fees have been included in the shipping price.  There are no import duties or custom clearance fees upon delivery.

EU BUYERS:  All items have a mandatory €3 customs duty that will be charged on all e-commerce packages sent from Japan.  Since the bears are a set, we believe the customs duty will be €3 total for the set.  PLEASE CONTACT YOUR CUSTOMS OFFICE FOR CONFIRMATION.  However, you may still have to pay other duties and fees.

There are 3 methods of paying the fees.  They are Postal Delivery Duties Paid (PDDP), Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) and Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU).  We will ship packages by JAPAN POST but it uses DDU which is not accepted by some EU countries.  We will use SpeedPAK to EU countries such as Germany that demand PDDP or DDP.  SpeedPAK is a little more expensive.
