Architect, civil engineer, astronomer, Egyptian physician, and god of medicine in ancient Egyptian mythology
Imhotep (around the 30th century BC) is the builder of the Step Pyramid of Djoser. He is the first architect in history, as well as the first physician, and one of the most famous engineers in ancient Egypt. He was raised to the status of an idol after his death, and became the god of medicine.
Egyptian texts speak of Imhotep as a minister who lived under the rule of the powerful Pharaoh Djoser of the Third Dynasty around the year 2600 BC, and built the famous Step Pyramid of Saqqara for Pharaoh Djoser in the 30th century BC. He was famous for his vast wisdom and knowledge, and he was a physicist and one of the political advisors to the Pharaohs, and he became a demigod, then during the Ptolemaic era he became the god of medicine or healing for the Egyptians. The Greeks called Imhotep the name of Amothis, and united between him and Asclepius, the god of healing. Although there is no contemporary evidence that Imhotep was a doctor, his religious responsibilities were closely related to magic, and in ancient Egypt magic and medicine were closely related. Shrines and temples were established for him in various parts of Egypt and Nubia. It was believed that miraculous healings were possible thanks to his intervention, hence his temples were full of patients, many of whom left records overflowing with gratitude and gratitude. Statues and monuments were found in large numbers of Imhotep as the god of healing, proving his widespread fame and the deep respect he enjoyed in ancient times. His fame has doubled over the centuries, and in the time of the Greeks it became centers for medical education.
