Antique HAC German Oak Grandmother Longcase Floor Clock Gong Spares Repairs

An antique German oak regulator floor clock by HAC—the Hamburg American Clock Company, dating from approximately the early twentieth century.

The clock has a particularly tall, narrow oak case with a glazed door, silvered dial and visible pendulum compartment. Its mechanical HAC movement retains the pendulum and gong-strike mechanism.

The clock was lightly tested but is not currently running. The winding arbor beside the number three would not turn, and the clock could not be persuaded to operate. No further investigation has been attempted because we did not want to risk damaging the mechanism.

Although the movement appears clean and well cared for, its internal completeness and precise repair requirements cannot be guaranteed. It may require servicing, adjustment, replacement parts or more extensive repair and is therefore offered strictly as a restoration project or for spares.

An impressive antique timepiece for an experienced clock restorer, collector of German clocks or decorative period interior.

Condition

Good overall antique appearance, but not currently working and sold strictly for restoration or spares and repairs.

The oak case presents well with scratches, marks and general wear consistent with age, including more noticeable marking along one side.

The glass is intact. Some apparent marks visible in the photographs were residue from cleaning solution that had not completely dried.

The pendulum and gong-strike mechanism are present. One winding arbor would not turn during light testing, and the clock is not currently running. Its mechanical condition and precise repair requirements are unknown.

The upper door hinge works, although the door can lift out of the hinge when raised slightly and should therefore be handled carefully.
