Offered is an original 1922 Brazil 500 Réis commemorative coin celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Brazilian Independence (1822–1922).

Coin details:

The obverse features the conjoined busts of Dom Pedro I and President Epitácio Pessoa, with the inscriptions relating to the proclamation of independence and presidency.

The reverse features a torch with two branches, the denomination 500 RÉIS, dates 1822 and 1922, and the inscription commemorating the 1st Centennial of Independence.

Condition: Good (G), with environmental/surface damage.

This is a well-circulated example with substantial wear. Details of the portraits and central design are worn, but the principal inscriptions, denomination, dates and overall design remain identifiable. The coin also has dark spotting, surface pitting/corrosion, discoloration and scratches, consistent with environmental exposure.

No attempt has been made to clean or polish the coin.
