A marvelous Navajo piece signed by the artist and sterling stamped. This appears to be a creation by the renowned Navajo silversmith and artist, John G. Begay! This piece's maker’s mark features the clear remnants of his trademark signature, crisply stamped capital letters (J.B.) with a stylized horn over the top. Though slightly faded, this special mark is clearly evident.
The eagle’s head and feathers show incredible detail and the bright blue turquoise stone has wonderful inclusions and craggy character. The stone is set in a sawtooth bezel and there are edge embellishments as well as a twisted rope motif. The back of this pendant is smooth and makes a wonderful place for holding between finger and thumb. This masterful creation is strung onto a thick, waxed cord, true to the southwestern style.
This necklace is in excellent vintage condition with beautiful patina. The waxed cord appears strong and tightly knotted. Due to the age of this piece and the front mounted bezel setting, the beautiful turquoise stone should be checked to make sure it is tightly snug within its bezel. A lovely piece!!
The necklace measures 26” total length of cord (a 13” drop length) and the pendant is 2” long by 1 1/4” wide.
This stunning necklace is ready to join your own treasured collection!
