Original 1883–1885 Ogdensburgh & Lake Champlain Railroad Freight Receipt Archive – Lot of 8

Offered is an outstanding original archive of eight (8) freight receipts issued by the Ogdensburgh & Lake Champlain Railroad dating from 1883 through 1885.

These original 19th-century railroad documents provide a fascinating glimpse into the movement of agricultural and commercial goods throughout New York and New England during the late Victorian era. The Ogdensburgh & Lake Champlain Railroad, founded in 1849, was a key transportation link connecting northern New York with Lake Champlain and the New England rail network before later becoming part of the Rutland Railroad system.

Many of the receipts document shipments of cases of eggs, while others reference additional freight including stove-related merchandise. Destinations and consignors include locations in Massachusetts and New York, preserving an authentic record of regional commerce over 140 years ago.

Each receipt features an attractive engraved locomotive vignette at the top, making these highly displayable as well as historically significant.
