Our Circa 1968 date is a guess, of course, but this gold label was only used from 1954 to 1969, so  it can't be much later.  We don't see a Gold Label Kamaka ukulele very often with dark wood binding like this one, so it must have been a higher model.   String action is nice and low, the original tuners work as well as these simple  friction pegs ever do, and there are no cracks or serious bonks.  This is from before Kamaka began the evolution towards their more modern models of the last 40 years, and it has a koa neck, not mahogany.  Neck is quite straight, all the original frets are tightly seated. The original bridge has been replaced with a larger version that has a removable saddle that's in the correct position, as a result the intonation is excellent so it's a rare Gold Label Kamaka that plays in tune up the neck!

Comes with the original plush lined case, with a Fred Kamaka Jr. business card plus a signed Kamaka hang tag, so we're assuming this may have been purchased at the factory.  A great sounding, easy playing Kamaka uke that also plays in tune!
