Excellent antique English Sheffield Georgian silver plate wine coaster featuring chased silver plate rim and warm turned fruit wood base.

Coaster measures approximately 6 inches across and 1.75 inches high. Minor bleed through on silver plate medallion as visible in photos. Otherwise, excellent condition.

Sheffield silver plate, sometimes referred to as Old Sheffield Plate (OSP), is a specific type of fused metal created by combining a layer of sterling silver with a thicker base of copper. This technique, developed in the 1740s, allowed for the production of items that had the appearance of solid silver but at a lower cost.

They likely show wear, fading, scratches, chips, cracks, past repair/restoration, original imperfections and/or damage from normal use. Significant issues are shown in photos.
